Hector Perez is a member of the Aging and Innovation Research Program (AIRP), led by Lili Liu. He acts as a postdoctoral fellow in the Faculty of Health at the University of Waterloo under Dr. Liu's and Dr. Antonio Miguel-Cruz's supervision. He currently holds a Mitacs-AGE-WELL Accelerate award and is supported by an industry partner, Clinisys EMR. He is passionate about improving older adults and people's lives using technology. Perez focuses on data models for risk estimation of getting lost among people living with dementia. His research interests are aging, technology, healthcare innovation, healthcare data science and visualizations.

The Aging and Innovation Research Program (AIRP), led by Lili Liu, focuses on the acceptance and adoption of innovations by older adults, their care partners, and health care professionals. Innovations can include technologies, practices, and policies. At present, a large portion of this research program focuses on technologies for assessing and managing risks of going missing in persons living with dementia. This includes the development, application, and evaluation of individual and community-level strategies to foster dementia-friendly communities.

Currently, he serves as the President of the AGE-WELL HQP-AC, where he learns and collaborates with HQPs from different regions across Canada.
