I am the research engineer of the Injury Prevention and Mobility Laboratory at Simon Fraser University under the direction of Dr. Stephen Robinovitch. In my role, I mainly work to help students and researchers in the lab by maintaining and designing various pieces of equipment and by helping to set up and run all the different studies of the lab.
I have assisted in projects such as video analysis of falls in older individuals and testing injury prevention equipment like hip protectors. I have also helped to design an instrumented chair for a study looking at sit to stand movements in individuals in assisted living facilities.
Part of my work with our team is also to promote education about the topics by participating in information fairs about technologies to help older adults in long term care environments as well as running tours of our lab to undergraduate students to show them the various tools that can be used to better understand injury mechanisms in older adults and to develop ways to help them.
