Dr. Alexander Moreno is a licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist/Psychologist member of the College of Psychologists of Quebec (Ordre des Psychologues du Québec, OPQ) in Canada and the College of Psychologists of Colombia (Colegio Colombiano de Psicólogos, COLPSIC). Dr. Moreno completed his bachelor’s and master’s degree in health psychology (concentration in clinical neuropsychology) at the National University of Colombia in 2004. In Canada, he completed a Ph.D. in cognitive science and neuropsychology at the University of Montreal in 2015 and postdoctoral training at McGill University in health informatics in 2016 (Person-centered Health Informatics Research Lab, AGE-WELL program). Dr. Moreno has conducted research in caregivers of individuals with dementia, traumatic brain injury and sexuality, with a particular interest in rehabilitation. He is interested in developing Virtual Reality interventions for individuals with neurocognitive disorders. Currently, Dr. Moreno is an adjunct professor in the Department of Psychology at Université de Montréal and he works as a Clinical Neuropsychologist/Psychologist at Notre-Dame Hospital in Montreal (CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, CIUSS-CCSMTL). He has authored several peer-reviewed scientific and review articles in the areas of health psychology, neuropsychology, sexuality, and neurorehabilitation. His work has had a positive impact in Quebec, highlighting the importance to include sexuality in neurorehabilitation, particularly in individuals with traumatic brain injuries. Recently, Dr. Moreno has developed a new area of research and practice known as neurosexuality, based on a transdisciplinary approach to sexuality in neurorehabilitation. Dr. Moreno was the invited editor for the peer-reviewed journal NeuroRehabilitation in 2017. In addition, Dr. Moreno co-edited two special numbers for the British Psychological Society (2015, 2016, Psychology of Sexualities Review). Dr. Moreno is involved as a reviewer for scientific journals in Latin America, North America, Europe, and Asia. In 2019 he guest-edited, by invitation, an issue of "Brain Injury Professional” (BIP) with a special thematic focus on neurosexuality. As a clinician, Dr. Moreno's provides psychological/neuropsychological services in English, French, and Spanish. As a researcher and clinician, Dr. Moreno advocates for the inclusion of sexual rehabilitation in individuals with brain injuries and their families. The results of his research have helped to improve the quality and delivery of health/mental healthcare to underserved and/or special populations. For his outstanding scientific contributions to health psychology, sexuality, and neurorehabilitation, he received the Early Career Award of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP), Division 8, Health Psychology in Montreal during the 29th International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP 2018).
